What will be using the commercial vehicle for?

When a customer comes in looking for a commercial vehicle the first thing we at Longwood Truck Center ask is what will you be using the vehicle for?  While this may seem to be an obvious question, many customers have not carefully thought out the answer which will ultimately determine the type of vehicle we will recommend. Below are some other important questions to answer.

What will be transported in the commercial vehicle?

Weight is a significant factor in determining what type of commercial vehicle a business will need. This help us determine the engine size you will need. I your cargo weight is between 500 - 1000 lbs. A V-6 engine should be adequate to haul your cargo, while providing a significant fuel savings for you.

Will your cargo weigh more that 1000 pounds?

If your cargo weight is consistently 1000 pounds or more than you should be looking a higher torque engine that will allow your vehicle to get up to speed faster and not put a strain on the vehicle engine and prolong the life of the engine.

What is the Maximum Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of the commercial vehicle your are considering?

The gross vehicle weight is the combined weight of the vehicle and all passengers and cargo pieces in "gross," that is to say, in total. Gross vehicle weight is especially important if you're driving in a delicate area or if you're carry exceptionally heavy cargo. Gross vehicle weight is particularly important for truck drivers, who may be carrying huge quantities of cargo that might alter the total weight of the vehicle considerably.
